Bentô; an iF design award with an innovative flavor

The speed of fast-food with the quality of Japanese cuisine. This unconventional combination, which formed the premises of a new Japanese restaurant brand – Bentô – was interpreted by Tátil in a project that involved branding, concept design, naming and interior design. The packaging designed with sustainability in mind earned us an iF, one of the most prestigious design awards in the world.

To flesh out the project, we embarked on an extensive journey through the universe of fast-food and Asian cuisine. Based on our findings, we created the name Bentô, as a reference to the traditional Japanese lunch box, and we developed the following concept: “Your Japanese restaurant, whenever you want it”.

Inspired by contemporary Japan, we created the branding guidelines that guided the development of the entire project. We created the brand, the visual and verbal language, the uniforms and the portfolio of POS materials.

The to-go packaging is easily assembled and manufactured without any glue. Conceived as a single sheet of die cut cardboard, the packaging doesn’t waste any material and is both innovative and sustainable.

  3. This design is steller! You certainly know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool! Also, please check out my page http://pranshuarya.com/photoblog/index.php?showimage=45
